Reviews from the site
In expert mode, add the “Visitor reviews” element or section. The site gets an average rating, the reviews and a “Leave a review” button.
- A visitor gives a rating and writes a name and a review.
- The review arrives in “Reviews”, tab “From sites”, marked “Awaiting review”. Tersby tells you about it in Telegram if Telegram is connected.
- Click “Publish” and the review appears on the site. “Hide” takes it down. “Reply” adds your answer under the review.
Reviews are protected from spam the same way orders are. In the element settings you choose how many reviews to show, in how many columns, and whether to show the form.
Stars in search
Tersby adds approved visitor reviews to the page markup on its own. From it, Google may show stars next to your site in search results. Google decides that itself, but without the markup there will be no stars for sure.
Reviews from the “Template pools” never go into the markup: Google allows stars only for genuine customer reviews.
Reviews from Google
In the element settings, choose “From: Google” and find the business by its name and city. The site shows its rating, the number of reviews and the latest reviews from Google, plus “All reviews on Google” and “Leave a review on Google” buttons. Reviews refresh once a day.
Your own Google key
Google charges for its data to its own Google Cloud account, so reviews work through your key. There are usually few requests: the business is looked up once and reviews refresh once a day, so Google's free monthly allowance is usually enough.
- Open console.cloud.google.com, create a project and in Billing attach a billing account: Google won't switch the API on without one.
- In APIs & Services → Library find Places API (New) and press Enable.
- In APIs & Services → Credentials press Create credentials → API key. In the key's settings, under API restrictions, keep only Places API (New).
- Copy the key (it starts with
AIza) and paste it into the «Reviews» element settings → «Source: Google» → «Save».
The key is stored encrypted and used for this site only. To avoid surprises, set a budget with an alert in Google Cloud: Billing → Budgets & alerts.
