Two options
The banner is chosen in the site's settings: “SEO and ads” → «Cookie banner» (in expert mode: «Settings» → «Ads and analytics»).
- Simple: a strip «This site uses cookies» with an «Accept» button. Pixels work right away. Fits Ukraine and countries without strict rules.
- GDPR (European Union): a window with «Accept all», «Reject» and «Customize». Saying no is as easy as saying yes, as GDPR requires.
How GDPR mode works
- The visitor chooses categories: «Analytics» (Google Tag Manager) and «Advertising» (Facebook and TikTok pixels, Google Ads). Necessary cookies the site can't work without are always on.
- Until a person agrees to a category, its trackers don't load at all. Google gets Consent Mode v2: «denied» first, «granted» after consent.
- Once chosen, the banner disappears and isn't shown on the site again.
- The visitor can change their mind with the «Cookie settings» link on the privacy policy page. You can put the same link, say, in the footer: any link to
#cookie-settingsopens the choice window. - If a person withdraws consent, the page reloads and the trackers stop.
Which to choose
If your ads target the European Union or the UK, you need GDPR mode: trackers can't run there without consent.
Keep in mind: in GDPR mode some visitors say no, and the browser pixels see fewer events. Server events (Conversions API and TikTok Events API) arrive as before: a lead reaches the ad account either way.
