What connecting gives you
With the pixel, Meta learns about views, presses of “Order” and leads from the browser. With a Conversions API token, leads and purchases also go from the server: they arrive even when the pixel is blocked in the browser.
Create an ad account in Tersby
In “Ad accounts”, create an account and give it a clear name, for example the one in Business Manager. An ad account holds the ad settings for its sites.
Ad accounts are available from the Flow plan. On any plan, a pixel can be set right on a site, on the “SEO and ads” tab.
Pixel ID
- In Meta Events Manager, open the data source and copy the pixel's identifier: 15 or 16 digits.
- In the Tersby ad account, paste it into the Facebook Pixel block.
Conversions API token
- In Events Manager, open the pixel's settings and generate an access token in the Conversions API block.
- Paste the token into the Facebook CAPI block in Tersby.
The token is stored encrypted and is never shown again: it can only be replaced or removed.
Attach a site
In the site editor, on the “SEO and ads” tab, choose the ad account. The site starts sending events with that account's pixel.
Check
Send a test lead from the site. The account's card shows a line about the last event: when it went and whether Meta accepted it. In Events Manager the lead should appear with two sources: Browser and Server.
Which events are sent
| Event | When |
|---|---|
| PageView | The page is opened |
| ViewContent | The visitor looks at the product |
| InitiateCheckout | The “Order” button is pressed |
| Lead | A lead is sent |
| Purchase | The order is bought out or confirmed |
When to send Purchase is chosen on the “Ad accounts” page: on buyout, already on confirmation, or never. The order's status comes from the CRM or is set by hand.
Your own events: forms, buttons and «Site events»
- A form (expert mode, «Event for the pixels» on the right): instead of «Lead» a form can send «Schedule» (a booking), «Subscribe» (a newsletter), «CompleteRegistration», «Contact», «SubmitApplication» or a name of your own. There too: the lead's value in the site's currency and its own Google Ads conversion label. The event goes from both the browser and the server, never counted twice.
- A button (expert mode, «Event for the pixel»): a standard event or your own, with a value and a Google Ads label.
- «Site events» (the “SEO and ads” tab): scrolled halfway and almost to the end, 30 seconds on the page, a popup shown, the discount wheel spun, quiz steps, a tap on a phone or messenger. Tick what you need; each can get its own name, value and Google Ads label.
Paste the Google Ads label as the part after «/» of the conversion's code (the site's conversion ID is then used) or whole: AW-123456789/AbCdEf.
Spend from the Marketing API
For Tersby to show spend and the cost per lead, enter the ad account ID like act_1234567890 and a token with the ads_read permission. If one account runs several sites, each can have its Facebook Campaign ID: spend is then counted for the site's campaign.
