Password-protected pages: courses and private materials

What for

A password-protected page suits the lessons of an online course, materials for clients, a price list for partners. Only people you gave a login and password can open it. It works on sites built in expert mode, on any page except the home page.

Lock a page

1. In “Pages” pick the page and clear the selection on the canvas (Esc): the page's settings appear on the right.
2. In the «Page» block switch «Access» to «With a password».
3. A list of logins appears below. Enter a login (say, the buyer's email), press «Make up a password» or type your own, and press «Add a login».
4. Copy the password right away: you won't see it again, only set a new one. «Copy» copies the login and password together, handy to send to the buyer.
5. Publish the changes.

A login is 2+ characters (letters, digits, dot, @, hyphen), a password 6+. A page can have up to 500 logins.

What the visitor sees

A «Login and password» form in the site's colours instead of the page. After signing in the page opens, and on that device the login isn't asked again for 30 days.

Protection against guessing: after many wrong attempts in a row, signing in pauses for a minute.

Take access back

Delete the login from the list and publish. Next time the person sees the sign-in form again. To change a password, add the same login with a new password.

Search and languages

Locked pages stay out of search and the sitemap. If the site has several languages, the page's copy in another language accepts the same logins.

Lesson videos

Upload videos to us (the «Video» element → «Own file»): they play in our player without anyone else's ads or recommendations, and the «Download» button can be hidden.
