Why tags
Tags show which campaign and which ad brought a buyer. Tersby keeps them in the lead, shows them in the stats and passes them to the CRM.
Build the link
In the site editor, on the “SEO and ads” tab, there's a block with the link for ads (UTM). Choose a platform and the builder fills in the right parameters:
| Platform | What is filled in |
|---|---|
| Facebook and Instagram | Campaign, ad set and ad names |
| TikTok | Campaign, ad group and ad names |
| Google Ads | Campaign ID, ad and keyword |
| Your own tags | Any values, for example for a blogger or a mailing |
The platform replaces parameters like {{campaign.name}} with the real names at the moment the ad is shown. You can copy the whole link or only the parameters: in Facebook they go well into the URL parameters field, in Google into the final URL suffix.
Click ids
fbclid, gclid and ttclid are added by the platforms themselves: you don't write them by hand. Tersby keeps them with the tags.
If the buyer didn't order right away
Tags arrive once, in the page's address. If the buyer opened the reviews, reloaded the page or came back later, they're gone from the address. So Tersby remembers the tags for a day and puts them into the lead. A new ad click replaces the old tags.
Where to look
- In “Analytics”, visits and leads are broken down by source, campaign and ad.
- A lead's card shows all its tags.
- In the CSV export and in requests to your address, tags go as separate fields.
Common mistakes
- Different case:
Facebookandfacebookbecome two different sources. - Tags on links inside the site itself: they overwrite the real source.
- An untagged link in a profile bio or a story: such leads arrive with no source.
