TikTok: pixel and Events API
A product view, a press of “Order” and a lead go to TikTok from the browser. With an Events API token, the lead and the purchase go from the server too.
What goes to TikTok
The event in the browser and on the server carries one id, so TikTok counts a lead once.
- PageviewA visitor opened the page.
- ViewContentA visitor looks at the product.
- InitiateCheckoutPressed the “Order” button.
- LeadSent a lead. The phone is sent as a hash, along with ttclid and ttp.
- PurchaseThe order is bought out or confirmed. Goes from the server with the amount.
How to connect
The pixel code is enough. The token is for server events.
- Enter the pixel code
In Ad accounts, open an account and paste the pixel code from TikTok Ads Manager, for example
C4A1B2C3D4E5F6G7H8I9. - Add an Events API token
Optional. With the token, leads reach TikTok even from visitors with an ad blocker.
- Launch your ads
Build the tagged link in the link builder: TikTok fills in the campaign and ad names itself.
Good to know
- ttclid isn't lostThe click id is remembered for a day and arrives with the lead, even if the buyer browsed the site first.
- An alert on failureIf TikTok stops accepting server events, a message arrives in Telegram.
- One account, several sitesThe pixel is set on the ad account and applies to all its sites. A single site can have its own.
- Meta and TikTok togetherBoth pixels can run on one site: every event goes to both networks.
